๐Ÿ’ก When state tax IDs are pending assignment, tax payments may be temporarily delayed. Here's what you need to know about tax refunds in these situations and how Warp handles them for you.

Why Tax Refunds Happen

When running payroll in states where tax IDs are pending assignment, Warp may be unable to immediately remit tax payments to state agencies. In these cases:

  • Warp initially attempts paper-based filing and returns as an alternative to electronic submissions

  • Some state agencies may reject these paper filings

  • After multiple filing attempts, if we remain unable to remit payments, Warp will refund the tax amounts to your employer account

What To Do If You Receive a Tax Refund

If you receive a tax refund from Warp:

  • Contact our support team immediately

  • Warp will need to reinitiate any failed filings

  • We'll help recollect the tax amounts and remit them to the remaining states

  • This process brings all tax liabilities up to date

Resolution Timeline

  • Standard resolution time for re-filings and tax repayment requests is 20 business days, as they depend on tax agencies response rates and availability.

  • Our team aims to complete all resolutions by the end of each quarter

Please note that these situations are temporary, and our tax operations team actively works to resolve them as quickly as possible.
